In 2024, I was asked by Lt-Col Daniel Imboden, chairman of the Catherine Programme Committee, to teach a lecture on the Essentials of The Salvation Army. This led me to further reading and reflection on the ecclesiology of The Salvation Army. I decided to summarize my findings as a Periodic Table of The Salvation Army.
Content of the Table:
- 5 essentials of The Salvation Army
- more than 60 elements distributed in these 5 categories
- a detailed description of each element when you click on it. The table is interactive!
Why this Table?
The identity and essence of the Salvation Army are very difficult to grasp. One reason is its high complexity, particularly the wide diversity of fields in which The Salvation Army is working. Another reason is that we started as a movement and have begun to understand ourselves as a church.
